Your guide to art for sale in Brisbane

Brisbane might be known for its sunny weather, riverfront lifestyle, and laid-back charm, but it’s also home to a thriving art community.

The city offers endless opportunities to expand your collection, from world-class institutions showcasing investment-worthy pieces to grassroots galleries and bustling weekend markets.

Whether you’re an art expert or are simply looking for something to hang at home, here’s art for sale in Brisbane to suit every taste and budget.

In this guide, we’ll explore why Brisbane has become a hub for art sales and share some of the best places to buy art in Brisbane, covering sleek galleries to local studios and community markets.

Why Brisbane is the perfect place to buy original art

Brisbane’s art scene is as diverse as the city itself. On one hand, you’ve got internationally recognised exhibitions at the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), and on the other, intimate galleries and studio collectives nurturing emerging talent.

The city’s growing network of galleries and creative hubs means you don’t need to travel far to stumble upon an exhibition, open studio, or pop-up art fair. This makes Brisbane one of the most exciting places in Australia for collectors to source original works directly from artists.

Where to buy art in Brisbane

Here are six of the best spots to find original art for sale in Brisbane, each offering a slightly different angle on the local creative scene.

There are some great finds if you’re after something investment-worthy or a unique gift.

If you’re new to the art scene, QAGOMA is also the perfect starting point, giving you a view of the big picture. You can then head into smaller galleries and markets to dive deeper into local talent.

Ahmed was fantastic throughout the whole process. This was the first time I used this platform and was a bit cautious but communication was excellent. We had a small misunderstanding about the delivery date but he went out of his way to deliver the bike and did a fantastic job. I can recommend his service and I will definitely use it again if the need arises.
